Financial Controller – Part Time / Interim
Axon Moore are working with a leading Travel Business based in South Manchester (hybrid) who are looking for an interim Financial Controller for a period of 6 to 9 months on a part time basis, 3 days per week.
As Financial Controller you will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance. We are looking for a very hands on individual who is happy to oversee and mentor the team plus be very hands on and create and implement new robust policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage all company accounts and investments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare Group monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
• Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
• Supervise and manage the financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
• Lead and mentor finance team members, providing guidance and feedback to ensure efficient performance.
• Develop and implement updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing processes.
• Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded, filed, and reported in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximise protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
• Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure the company adheres to all financial legal standards and guidelines.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and report variances.
• Analyse financial data and provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
• Manage and comply with HMRC reporting requirements and tax filings.
Person Specification:
• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
• Experienced Financial Controller
• Experienced in a high growth, acquisitive group structure.
• Ideally experienced in the Travel industry or other highly regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems – preferably SAGE
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
