Axon Moore are supporting a major services business in the Sheffield region in the appointment of a Financial Controller.
This Financial Controller role is a high level role in the business, with one of the main responsibilities overseeing a large finance function (40+ heads), and the objective is to ensure the team are challenged, motivated and performing to the best of their ability, whilst fostering a positive working culture and fulfilling the values of the business.
The business also adopts a hybrid and flexible working policy, so working 2 or 3 days from the office per week would be a feature of this role.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing a large finance function of 40+ heads, covering transactional finance, financial controls, management accounting and projects
- Taking a lead role in some of the current financial change and transformation projects currently underway in the organisation, centred around people, systems and processes
- In addition to leadership, being proactive and ready to be ‘hands on’ when required when it comes to the review and production of management accounts, statutory reporting and day to day reporting matters
- Managing a fast paced cash and banking function who oversee daily reconciliations, as well as managing VAT, cash flow forecasts and other operational treasury matters
- Identifying risks and weaknesses in existing processes and procedures, making recommendations and acting upon them
- Maintaining close contact with the business so as to understand key business drivers whilst partnering with key stakeholders
The ideal candidate for this role would have the following skills and experience:
- An experienced Head of Finance / Financial Controller / Finance Leader who is used to managing large teams who manage large volumes of financial activity
- Possesses a proactive attitude, identifying problems and acting upon them with pace and urgency
- Experience managing large financial change projects around people, process and systems
- Adaptable, astute and with a strong leadership presence
